Simulation and modelling has seen huge advances in recent years. Significant improvements have been made in modelling accuracy, speed and fidelity. Even though modelling software has become much easier to use, it still requires a lot of knowledge and training to get the best out of it. It is still very possible for inexperienced users to get results that seem correct but on closer inspection are not and nowhere does the principle of ‘garbage in, garbage out’ apply better. It is therefore essential that such software is used by knowledgeable and experienced professional engineers. On the other side, it is important that the input models are well understood, requiring significant understanding from the process engineers involved.

At Fraunhofer Project Center, we have access to the vast array of knowledge that exists within the University of Twente, across many aspects of modelling and simulation methods. Such knowledge also extends into the huge Fraunhofer network, combined with a deep understanding of most industrial processes. We can also provide a level of confidence by validating the simulation results with experimental results from our well-equipped laboratories.
